Billie hummed to herself as she packed up her wash-kit and bundled her dirty clothes and odds and ends into her suitcase.

She felt all warm and creamy inside, like a big bowl of chocolate mousse fresh from the mixer, waiting for that last decorative curl of dark chocolate.

Only she'd already been served up, to a hot biker. And yeah, she had a weird sense of humor, so bite her.

She was intensely relieved to have Whitey Simms gone, because she didn't want Rocker or any of the other Flyers getting in trouble on her account, and now she didn't have to wait for the police to act.

But more than that, she was happy.

She still couldn't believe that of all the women he could have, Rocker had picked her.

Of course, she'd sort of been thrown in his lap, but still, he'd chosen to rescue her the other morning at the bus stop.

She stopped with her hands on the suitcase zipper. Wow, had that really only been three days ago?

Hard to believe her life could go so wrong, and then so right, in only four days. From being roughed up on the bus by those creeps, to being rescued, wined and dined—okay, make that beered and burgered—and then loved into a warm glow of sexual completion by her black knight... her life had taken a sharp turn for the better.

Wait until she told Lesa she'd hooked up with one of Pete's biker brethren. Her sister would be shocked, although hopefully not dismayed.

But if so, that was her sister's problem. Because seriously? Lesa had moved in with Pete after working for him for only a month, and the two of them were engaged only months later.

Not that Billie thought she'd be getting engaged any time soon. That was just silly. But she was going to enjoy the heck out of her own biker man as long as she could.

She slung her purse over her shoulder, took a last, smiling look at the king-sized bed, and wheeled the suitcase toward the head of the stairs.

Rocker was just coming up. He took the suitcase from her, and set it down. "I got it. Need to get my boots on, then we'll go."

"Okay, thanks." Smiling, Billie continued on downstairs, where she busied herself cleaning up the remains of their breakfast.

Several moments later, they were in the Firebird, headed up the street.

"Do you like living here?" she asked, looking at the people sitting outside the cafe across the street, and at the old church on the corner. Rocker stopped to allow a trio of joggers to cross, then turned and headed north along a busier street, lined with small businesses. "In a not-neighborhood?"

"I do," he said. "Don't have a bunch of nosy neighbors up in my shit. I can play my music loud as I want at night, nobody complains. And the brothers can fill up the street with their bikes, and party out in the courtyard too if we want. Suits me fine."

She nodded. "I can see that.
